Frames

One of the most important parts of any upholstered furniture product is the frame. It should be obvious how important the frame is to the life of the product - yet this is where many manufacturers skimp the most. Mayo frames are constructed with furniture grade plywood and solid hardwood boards that are combined to produce one of the best frames in the industry. Mayo frames are designed by skilled technicians using state-of-the-art computer aided design (CAD) systems. Frames are precision cut using the latest computer numerical controlled (CNC) routing technology used in the furniture industry.

Springs

A high quality seat spring system is essential to long-term comfort and support. Most Mayo products feature 8 gauge sinuous wire seat springs, each connected from side to side with spring steel wire for lateral support and stability. This spring system is similar to systems use in the finest automobiles. Some models feature a drop-in coil spring seat spring system. See your Mayo price list for details on which models feature the coil spring system.

Seat Cushion Foam

High quality seat cushion foam is a key ingredient to good looks and long lasting comfort. Mayo seat cushion foam is a 2.0 pound high density polyurethane foam. Mayo has a full polyurethane foam fabrication operation located right inside the factory so we can maintain quality assurance standards in all the polyurethane parts used in Mayo products.

Fabric Upholstery

Keeping your furniture clean is an important part of helping it to last and keep that fresh new look.  Frequent cleaning with a vacuum cleaner can help remove dust you may not realize has settled on the upholstery.

Please remember, however, to NEVER remove cushion covers for separate dry-cleaning or washing.  Any tumble cleaning method can destroy the backing, shrink, or otherwise damage upholstery fabric.

Avoid any product, which contains highly toxic carbon tetrachloride.  Use a professional furniture cleaner when an overall soiled condition is reached.

Always test a small hidden area before proceeding with any cleaning application.

The upholstery fabric industry has developed four different recommended cleaning methods.  The proper cleaning code for your fabric is shown on a card attached to the “law label” under the seat cushions.  It will read “C=”, followed by one of the cleaning codes explained as follows:

S —  Spot clean, using a mild, water-free solvent or dry cleaning product.  Carefully follow instructions on such products.  Clean only in a well-ventilated room.

W —  Spot clean, using the foam only from a water-based cleaning agent, such as a mild detergent or non-solvent upholstery shampoo product.  Apply foam with a soft brush in a circular motion.  Vacuum when dry.

WS — Spot clean this fabric either with a mild solvent or a water-based cleaning agent.  When using a solvent or dry cleaning product follow instructions carefully and clean only in a well-ventilated room.  You may also use an upholstery shampoo product or the foam from a mild detergent.

X — Clean this fabric only by vacuuming or light brushing to prevent accumulation of dust or grime.  Water-based foam or solvent-based cleaning agents of any kind may cause excessive shrinking, fading, or possible pile distortion.

Leather Upholstery

Leather is one of the most durable and soil resistant materials available for upholstery.  Your leather furniture will provide many years of pleasure and comfort with minimal care and effort under most household conditions.  To ensure the care and protection of your fine leather furniture, remember the following points:

Frequent dusting with a clean, dry cloth or light vacuuming with a soft brush attachment will keep your furniture looking fresh.

Immediately blot up any liquid spills with a clean, absorbent cloth, and allow the leather to dry naturally.  Never use detergents, saddle soap, furniture polish, stain removers, turpentine, abrasive cleaning solvents, or ammonia to clean your leather.  Refer to the cleaning instructions on the furniture’s deck label for further information.

Avoid direct sunlight exposure, which can cause your leather to fade and lose softness.

Avoid placing your leather furniture near heat sources like radiators or fireplaces, as prolonged exposure to heat will dry out the leather.

Keep all sharp objects away from your furniture as they may scratch or cut your fine leather.'
